Wind Surfer Gets A Fay Body-Slam

We can file this under the, “What Was He Thinking!” file.  In south Florida, Tropical Storm Fay blew through the Keys as it made it’s way across the state.  Many areas that part of the state were under Tropical Storm Watches and Warnings, in many cases.  Rain was pouring, wind was whipping, but that did not stop one Wind Surfer who obviously wanted to wind surf no matter what.

This young man, and some of his friends, apparently wanted to seek exciting thrills by throwing caution into the air, but unfortunately that wasn’t the only thing that was thrown into the air.  The 26-year-old Kevin Kearney was strapped in a harness with a sail attached to it, when a huge gust of wind took him by surprise.  The gust literally picked him up, dragged him across the sand before taking him a few dozen feet into the air, blowing him across the street and finally slamming him into the side of a building.

Kearney is now at the hospital in critical condition.  He likely broke a number of bones in his body.  His friends are hopeful that he’ll make a full recovery.  Obviously, I don’t think we can depend on their opinion.

Not for nothin’, but the moral of the story; kids, don’t try this at home.  Leave the thrill seeking in the bedroom and not in the middle of a tropical storm.

  1. Thanks for the comment, but really, does it whether or not he was windsurfing or kite surfing? One thing we can say for sure is that he was thrill seeking in the middle of a tropical storm. Not the wisest move.

  2. Okay, well how about this…if this guy was windsurfing, instead of kite surfing he’d be in a lot better shape.

  3. WHO CARES WHAT KIND OF SURFING HES DOING…..the boy is clearly not the brightest lightbulb in the box and I’ll probably get bad Karma for this but I watched the video yesterday when it came out on Fox or CNN and it was disturbingly hilarious

  4. Thanks myownsoap, I agree, disturbingly hilarious! Looking at the important part of the message, which wasn’t the method, but the act in general.
