Its the war that’s not highly publicized as the global war on terror, but its a war none-the-less that can have global implications. But with the most current battle, or as we see it as a terrorist attack in Mumbai, tensions between India and Pakistan are at yet another high between the two nations, and this time there might not be no turning back to avoid war. There are already suspicious that Pakistanis are behind the terror launched in India over the past few days, but if they are able to prove that they were acting under orders of the Pakistan government, then we’ll likely see war between the two nuclear armed nations.
The Mumbia attacks are over, and while some reports have the dead totaled to be over 200 some other reports say they are still counting. The media is calling this the Indian 9/11, but unlike the American terrorist attacks in 2001, its been hard to tell what terror organization is behind the attack. While Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda stepped up and claimed responsibility on America’s terror attacks, no claim has been put down in this recent incident. Some suspect it was al Qaeda, but others think it could have been Lashkar-e-Taiba, as the lone survivor of the terror group said he was apart of.
Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terrorist organization that operates out of Pakistan, have been behind many terror attacks in India. The main objective of the group is to end the primary rule of the Indian government in the Kashmir region. They have been actively trying to start wars between the two countries and sometimes succeeding, as India and Pakistan have been in war three times since 1947. To say that they cause a strain on the government relations between India and Pakistan is an understatement.
Not for nothin’, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities for an all-out war to start over this terror attack without no actual proof of Pakistani government involvement. Pakistan is firm in their denial that they had anything to do with it, but many people in India do not agree. Some government and non-government officials of India believe that Lashkar-e-Taiba may be taking orders from Pakistan intellegence. For the sake of the world, I hope that isn’t true. Anyone of these two nations could be an accusation or insult away from launching nuclear weapons.
