Gandolfini is best known for playing the role of mafia boss, Tony Soprano in HBO’s The Sopranos, which ran for six seasons from 1999 to 2007.

Throughout his time on the show, Gandolfini has earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of the trouble mobster, balancing family life and a life of crime. He’s won several awards, including three Emmy awards for Lead Actor as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award for a male actor multiple times.

Not for nothin’, but Gandolfini, a.k.a. Tony Soprano, will forever be an icon for HBO, and in all likelihood, an icon for American television altogether.
